Prices: \u00bdd for a Hog, 6d for a Hearse, Carriage or Chariot, 1d for a Foot-passenger, the steam ferry operated every 15 minutes from six o\u2019clock until dusk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized has-custom-border\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/southshieldslocalhistorygroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Places-Riverside-Ferry-St-02-Ferry-1830.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7883\" style=\"border-width:2px\" width=\"450\" height=\"287\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southshieldslocalhistorygroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Places-Riverside-Ferry-St-02-Ferry-1830.jpg 600w, https:\/\/southshieldslocalhistorygroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Places-Riverside-Ferry-St-02-Ferry-1830-300x191.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ferry starting in 1830<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A new ferry landing was put in place in 1904, this was 15 times the surface area of the old ferry landing;
